Use Add Bates Numbers to PDF to add padded identifiers. Our four-page example runs from DOC-000001 through DOC-000004.
Define the identifier pattern
Open the PDF. Keep Prefix / label at DOC-, leave Suffix empty, set the starting value to 1 and Minimum digits to 6. Zero padding produces DOC-000001.
Choose placement and page scope
Use the bottom-center position, 12-point type and a 0.5-inch margin for the example. Review whether the stamp covers existing content.
Choose the first and last affected pages and any odd/even filter. Before processing another file in the same series, decide the next starting value so identifiers do not repeat.
Export and verify the sequence
Choose Start and download. Check that the first identifier is DOC-000001 and the fourth is DOC-000004. Confirm every intended page received one stamp.
Common questions
How do I continue numbering in another PDF?
Use the same pattern and start at the next unused number. After the four-page example, the next file would start at 5.
Can I add a suffix?
Yes. The suffix follows the padded counter. Preview the complete stamp to ensure it fits its position.
