Bates format and sequence scope
Set the first counter value and minimum digit count, for example a prefix DOC- with six digits produces DOC-000001. Choose the page range and inspect subsequent values in the preview. This tool numbers the current PDF; it does not maintain an account-wide sequence across separate sessions or guarantee that identifiers are globally unique.
Choose the position on the page
Click a page position or use the visual top/bottom position map.
Visual placement and typography
Place text at the left, center or right of the header or footer, then drag it on the preview to fine-tune its position. Font, a size slider, color and bold control the appearance. Edge inset sets the distance from the page boundary. Check mixed page sizes so labels do not overlap existing text or leave the page.
Control the numbered page range
Choose the first and last page, with all, odd or even page scope.
Numbering range, mirroring and separators
Open Numbering to set the start and end page; an end value of 0 means the document’s end. Starting at page 2 leaves the cover unlabelled. The starting number is separate from the starting PDF page. Mirroring can swap left/right placement on even pages, and optional header/footer separator lines help divide labels from body content.
Review your finished PDF
Preview the result before downloading and sharing it.
Preview, download and revise
Select Start when the settings are ready. On the result screen, Preview opens the generated PDF and Download saves a separate copy. Back returns to the current workspace; Start over clears it for a new file. Review small text, page edges and page order in the finished copy. A new PDF does not preserve the validity of an existing digital signature.

Open one PDF up to 100 MB and 750 source pages. Protected files need an unlocked copy unless this tool explicitly offers password entry. Large or complex pages can require more memory or reach processing limits even when the file is within these limits.
Processing uses our servers. Source files, temporary files and results are deleted from our servers within 30 minutes after processing finishes. We do not share document contents with third parties or use them to train AI models.

Temporary server processingDoes Bates stamping certify a document or prevent changes?
No. Bates numbers are visible page identifiers for referencing and organization. They do not establish authenticity, provide a digital signature or prevent later editing.
