Edit PDF Metadata changes the properties stored inside the PDF. Our example sets the title to Workshop notes, the author to Sciweavers and the subject to Planning a team workshop.
Review the existing properties
Load your PDF. Inspect the current Title, Author, Subject and Keywords, plus the creator application and producer fields. Decide which describe the document accurately.
Update the relevant fields
Set Title to Workshop notes, Author to Sciweavers and Subject to Planning a team workshop to reproduce the example. Other fields remain as loaded.
The Title property is different from both the visible heading on a page and the filename. Use Edit PDF if you need to change words printed on a page.
Save and inspect the new properties
Choose Start and download. Open the document properties in a PDF reader to confirm the three values. The example still has four pages and the same visible page content.
Common questions
Will changing Title rename the file?
No. The internal Title property and the downloaded filename are separate. Set or rename the filename as needed.
Do viewers always display the title property?
Viewer behavior varies. Verify the saved properties directly rather than relying only on a browser tab label.
