Split document batches at blank separator pages

Split PDF by Blank Page finds empty separator sheets in digital PDFs and scan batches, shows every match in a yellow-tinted sidebar, and exports the sections as numbered PDFs inside a ZIP. Detection and splitting stay on your device.

Blank separator pages become reviewed split points between the original PDF sections.

How to split a PDF at blank pages

Practical ways to use this tool

Document scanning teams

Separate batch scans

Place blank sheets between packets, scan once and export each packet as its own PDF.

Office administrators

Divide bundled paperwork

Turn empty dividers in a combined file into clean, numbered documents.

Records teams

Prepare case-file sections

Review separator pages visually before creating individual archive-ready sections.

Features and controls

Detect empty separator pages

Scan every page using the same detector as Remove Blank Pages.

What counts as blank

The tool checks rendered page pixels, selectable text and form fields. A page is selected only when it has no selectable text, no form widget and no more dark pixels than the chosen sensitivity allows.

Click Find blank pages to review first, or click Split PDF to detect and export in one step. Detected thumbnails are tinted yellow and the active separator is labelled in the preview.

Match detection to the document

Choose Strict, Light noise or Scan noise from the familiar sensitivity menu.

Choose a sensitivity

Strict is the default, matching Remove Blank Pages, and works best for clean digital files. Light noise allows a few scan specks. Scan noise accepts more marks and can find otherwise empty backs in noisier batches.

Higher tolerance can classify faint content as blank. Review pale handwriting, lightly printed forms and intentional white pages before splitting.

Keep or remove separator sheets

Remove blank dividers for clean files, or attach them to a neighboring section.

Control the boundary

Remove blank separators is selected by default. Clear it to keep every page, then choose whether each blank marker starts the next section or ends the previous section.

Consecutive blank pages form one separator. Keeping them attaches the whole run to the chosen neighboring section, and leading or trailing blanks stay with the nearest section. If every page appears blank, the original file is preserved unchanged inside the ZIP.

Review the section plan

Use the page rail and numbered part cards before exporting.

Check the result

Click a yellow thumbnail to inspect a detected separator. The numbered part cards show the page span for each output and jump directly to its first page.

If no blank page is found, the result is one PDF containing the complete document. Change sensitivity only when the visual review shows missed or incorrect markers.

Preserve original PDF pages

Detection uses previews; export copies the source pages into new PDFs.

Quality and privacy

Text, vectors and original images are copied rather than rasterized. The ZIP contains numbered PDFs in document order, with a 500 MB combined output safeguard.

Your file stays in the browser. Open one unlocked PDF up to 100 MB and 200 pages. Scan time depends on the number and size of pages and the speed of your device.

FAQ

A few useful answers

Know what to expect before you start.

On your device
What counts as a blank PDF page?

The tool checks page pixels, selectable text and form fields. A page must contain no selectable text or form widget and stay below the selected dark-pixel tolerance. Faint content can still need visual review.

Which blank-page sensitivity should I choose?

Strict is the default for clean digital PDFs. Light noise allows a few scan specks. Scan noise accepts a slightly larger number of specks, but should be reviewed carefully because pale content may be classified as blank.

Can blank separator pages be removed?

Yes. Remove blank separators is enabled by default. Turn it off to keep every separator with either the following section or the preceding section.

What happens with consecutive or edge blank pages?

Consecutive blanks form one separator. Kept edge blanks stay with the nearest section. If every page appears blank, the ZIP contains the complete original PDF without changes.

What if no blank pages are found?

The ZIP contains one PDF with the complete document. You can review the sidebar and try a different sensitivity if a separator was missed.

Are the output PDFs rasterized?

No. Pages are rendered only for detection and preview. Export copies original PDF pages, preserving selectable text, vectors and source images.

Are files uploaded, and what are the limits?

Files remain on your device. Open one unlocked PDF up to 100 MB and 750 pages. Processing time depends on the document and your device.
