Open PDF to PDF/A, add your PDF and choose the archival standard required by the recipient. The tool converts the whole document and validates the result before making the PDF available.
Confirm the required standard
Check the format requested by the archive or receiving organization. Use PDF/A-2b, the default recommended option, unless you have a requirement for PDF/A-1b.
These are the two choices offered by this tool. If the recipient requires another conformance level, confirm the requirement before submitting a converted file.
Upload and convert the full PDF
Add your PDF or choose the sample, select the standard and choose Start. There is no page-range control in this workflow.
Conversion is followed by validation against the selected profile. The tool supplies the download only when that check succeeds. A failed conversion or validation means you should review the reported problem and the original file.
Save and inspect the validated output
Download the PDF and compare it with the source. Our four-page sample became a four-page PDF/A-2b file and passed validation with 144 rules passed and zero failed.
Review text, fonts, images and page boundaries. For a later independent check of your saved copy, open PDF/A Validator and select the matching standard.
Common questions
Why do the before and after pages look similar?
PDF/A concerns the file’s archival structure and requirements. A visual change is not the goal. Review the document’s appearance and use validation to check its conformance.
Can I check an existing PDF/A without converting it again?
Yes. Use PDF/A Validator to inspect the existing file and download its validation report. That workflow checks the document instead of rewriting it.
